Terms & conditions
Last updated: 29 July 2026
These terms explain how ordering works, so there are no surprises for either of us. Every cake is made to order by hand, so please read the deposit and cancellation sections in particular.
How ordering works
Sending an order request through this website is an enquiry, not a confirmed booking. I'll get back to you to talk through the design and confirm the final price. Your order is only confirmed once I've agreed the details with you and received your deposit.
Lead time
I need at least 2 weeks' notice for custom cakes. I'll always try to help with shorter notice where availability allows, but I can't promise it. Accepted short-notice orders carry a £20 rush fee.
Pricing
The prices on this website are starting prices. The final price depends on the size, the design and any extras, and I'll always confirm it with you before you pay anything.
Deposit & payment
- A 50% deposit is required to secure your date. This deposit is non-refundable, because I buy ingredients for your cake and reserve that date exclusively for you, turning down other orders.
- The balance is due 3 days before collection or delivery.
- I accept bank transfer or cash on collection. Payment details are sent once your order is confirmed.
Changes to your order
I'm happy to adjust things early on, but design changes cannot be made within 7 days of your collection or delivery date, as by then I've bought ingredients and planned the work.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel, please tell me as soon as you can.
- Deposits are non-refundable in all cases.
- If you've already paid the balance and cancel more than 7 days before the date, the balance is refunded.
- If you cancel 7 days or fewer before the date, no refund is available.
Please note: because my cakes are made to your specification and are perishable, they are exempt from the usual 14-day right to cancel online orders under UK consumer law. The terms above apply instead.
Collection
Cakes can be collected from Hackney, East London. For privacy, the full address is shared once your order is confirmed. If collecting from me is awkward, just ask. I'm often happy to meet you partway by arrangement.
Delivery
Delivery is available within about 5 miles of Hackney, and is arranged and confirmed with you when I discuss your order. As a guide, delivery is typically £10–£15 depending on the distance. Anywhere further afield can be quoted for on request. There is a £50 minimum order for delivery (no minimum for collection).
Once you have your cake
Once a cake has been collected or delivered and accepted, responsibility for it passes to you. This matters most for tiered cakes, which are delicate and should be kept level, cool and out of direct sunlight. I'll give you handling and storage advice when you get your cake.
Allergens
All my cakes contain gluten, eggs and milk, and are made in a home kitchen that handles other allergens. Please read my allergen information and tell me about any allergies before ordering.
Photos of your cake
I may photograph completed cakes to show on my website and social media. If you'd prefer I didn't share photos of your cake, just tell me and that's absolutely fine.
Your information
See my privacy notice for what I do with the details you give me.
